What is Business: An occupation, task, trade, or mission with ones self or another.
Proverbs 22:26 says, "Do not be a man who strikes hands in pledge or puts up security for debts." A symptom of this foolish financial risk is the tremendous personal and corporate bankruptcies we have today. Even our own government has little or no restraint, because they can just print more money. We flash credit cards like giving out candy that come with outrageous interest rate. Many never get out of the hole. Some stay afloat temporarily by using other cards to fund their living. It's a sad way to live.
Ask
what if? If my job goes sour, or this business goes bankrupt, can I
still support myself and or my family and the other obligations with
this debt. We should not take foolish risk nor
trust others who do the same. Security should be required in any
transaction. A great part of wisdom is to avoid taking risk that could
cost you financially or in other ways. Also, be
careful about co-signing with others. Don't do it if you don't
want to pay the debt back yourself!
In the Bible,
garments were valuable possessions; this was a type of security, deposit
or earnest money.
Read Proverbs 20:16 and Exodus:26-27. By
taking a security
deposit, a wise person can safely enter contracts with foolish people.
Do not trust the lifestyle of a whoremonger in any financial or business transactions.
If
a person is not disciplined with their money or take unnecessary risk
avoid doing business with them like the plague.
In business be diligent in seeking opportunities to accumulate assets for your future. A lazy person neglects this and will bring poverty to themselves.
In investments be diligent in seeking opportunities to learn about what to invest in. Read investment guides, magazines, even consumer and financial savvy radio and TV personalities are good places to go to learn investment strategies.
Seek
opportunities to accumulate savings
for vacation time. Have a fund set
aside just for this. I
call it (fun money fund.) That way when vacation time comes around the
money will be available.
In education be diligent in seeking ways to be versatile in your field of choice. To learn all you can so you can be important to your employer. Be diligent in seeking opportunities to learn from wisdom books and commentaries. Read biographies of wise people who lived and are living now. Saturate yourself in God's word, the greatest wisdom book of all. Ask God to reveal His word to you so that you may grow wise.
