Loving your enemy is a commandment of God and one of the chief measures of a true Christian. The proverb is not complete by itself, for the next verse explains the consequences of rejoicing at his troubles. God will see your bitter attitude and lift his punishment of your enemy (24:18).
We know that vengeance belongs to the Lord. If you rejoice in your heart or thoughts when your enemies falls or stumbles God does not look favorably on you and condemns this attitude. Holy revenge and retribution is treating your enemy with love and kindness, even in your thoughts, and letting God deal with them. You prove a righteous heart and the Lord is pleased by your actions; and believe me, your enemy will not be able to stand the punishment that God has for them.
The question is how will you respond? If you pray for you enemies and you do it in sincerity, you will be blessed with peace and joy and victory! What if our Heavenly Father had not loved us through Jesus Christ, while we were His enemies (Rom 5:6-10)? Can we or will we follow his example?
God will bless your
most difficult relationships, if you live righteously and wisely. God
will also protect you from violent enemies and calm the agitated ones.
Treating people who mistreat you with kindness, will seem so unnatural
and
unexpected to them, that they may reconsider any harsh treatment towards
you and be remorseful, and maybe ask you for forgiveness of their bad
attitude and bad
behavior.
You will always have an enemy! The assignment that God has for your life, a enemy will try to undermine it. Any rewards in your life a enemy will resent it. Any progress in your life will be hated by an enemy. When God is trying to remove a weakness in your life, a enemy will try anything and everything to work against if. Your enemy will not win the battle or the war as long as God fights for you. Enemies are a natural and necessary part of life. You will need Gods strength to defeat your enemy. The size of the enemy you conquer, determines the size of your reward. Any strategy you have to use against your enemy should not be revealed to anyone.
