Proverbs
10:12 says, "Hatred stirs up dissension, but love covers over all
wrongs." Hatred of sin is holy and good. We are taught to hate the
sin, but love the sinner.
If we pursue backbiting, gossip, or whisper against people, God's judgment will be upon us. If a person says, "Oh, I love Jesus", but stirs up strife, gossips, and does not forgive offences that people have committed against them, they are hypocrites.
Love has many facets, this proverb emphasizes one of them - covering sins. Love overlooks all offences against it; hatred gets offended easily, and holds bitterness, or plots revenge. Love hides and forgets the sins of the repentant; but hatred remember them, stirs them up or spreads them to others. Hatred craves private information and spreads it to anybody who will listen, but love does not repeat them.
One thing love can
not do is tolerate strife; it only seeks peace and pursues it. We can
count on strife in our personal or business life, because its caused by
people who do not practice love.
By the fall of man we are all by nature walking around with hearts full of hatred and malice. I know people who can't be happy unless they have quarrels and strife going on around them all the time. It's like they live for it, and would not know how to live without it.
Weather we are parents or not we should pursue training our children and correcting them in issues pertaining to love and hatred, peace and strife, spreading sins or covering them. Teaching love, kindness, forgiveness, and peacemaking, should be top love character traits.
Let
us take on the character of Christ, because when he met repentant
sinners he freely forgave them. Our lesson here is the basis for true
love and peace. Let us be peacemakers by practicing the wisdom of this
proverb. Love does not fear. Love gives freely. Love considers the
needs of others. As you sow love in to those around you, expect God to
bless you beyond your greatest expectations. You cannot help yourself
until you help somebody else! All the law hinges on the Law of LOVE!!
Whatever good things you help to come to pass for others, God will bring good things to pass for you! Read Ephesians 6:8.
